Not too long ago I had a sudden impulse to buy packets of charcoal and run back to art class. Something about being messy and creative go hand in hand! I combined this urge of creating a chalky mess with a technique I have wanted to explore recently - pulling out an image from the negative space.

 

I played around with a digital pen using the pastel tool and surprised myself. I created something I loved far more than anything I have created in the past with traditional materials. I have taken time to develop this series and find my 'style' into what you see here today..
